Diagnosis and hindsight: What early signs and symptoms do you wish you or your HCP had spotted?

Peter Jerrett

August 19, 2024

During the recent ambassador meeting, our ambassador Peter Jerrett chairs a discussion with our other ambassadors on the early signs and symptoms of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), including those that are easily missed or overlooked.

Jerret shares their diagnosis journey, the early symptoms they experienced, and how this was investigated by their healthcare provider (HCP). Jerret explains how the common ALL characteristics of anemia and low platelets present in the form of symptoms such as headaches and a rash, and how it was only later, rarer symptoms that alerted his HCP and led to his diagnosis. Jerret goes on to provide an overview of how to work with HCPs for a more effective diagnosis. This session closes with an interesting discussion between our Know ALL ambassadors on the subject of early ALL and how to better identify commonly missed symptoms.
